Hmm,

John's post indicates he has a bright metal grill. I thought PM-23 grills were painted a 
silver/gray color like mine. Were there several versions? One post even suggests that the 
grills are stainless. I don't think mine are. A magnet sticks to them (yes, I know some 
stainless alloys do that). A few years ago, I took my PM-23 apart and had the somewhat 
shabby grills powder coated a light gray. Looks great even if it might cause Bob Halligan to 
frown. If you ever get a chance to own or play with a good SX-28/PM-23, go for it. I'm not one 
who is interested in hi-fi communications. Mostly I use earphones but a good signal does 
sound "special" with those 6V6's and a 10 inch speaker. My setup was my first BA. What a 
way to start an addiction.
