The S-53A, does not have an FM band or any of the other bands you describe.
Looking at one of my images of the radio, the bands go as follows top to
bottom:

A - Standard Broadcast
B - 2.5 - 6.0
C - 6.0 - 16.0
D - 14.0 - 31.0
E - 48.0 - 54.0

Then a logging scale below that. The image I have is rough so the above
numbers may not be exact. Sounds like you may not have S-53A innards but an
S-53A case used for a different radio.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] S-53A dial

I just received a S-53A that I am planning to restore. Upon close
examination I find that the dial is not the expected S-53A dial. The bands
are top to bottom: 1. 88 to 108 FM band, 2. 540 to 1600 AM band, 3. 1.7 to
4.5 Marine band, 4. 4.5 to 12 SW 1 and 5. 11 to 22 SW 2.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened to this radio? The dial
glass seems to be rather difficult to replace.

Thanks,
Jim
