Your audio clip sounds like you are tuned off to the side of the broadcast station. (not centered on frequency) or you are hearing a station using Single Sideband Suppressed Carrier.  If so, you will have to switch to the "CW" mode and fine tune with the band spread until you understand the transmission.  Works best on a voice.  Be sure the station is tuned for maximum signal before going to the CW position. Have fun
