[Hallicrafters] SX-62 Tuning Slack

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I've ordered some new dial cord
from
"radioantiques" on Ebay, and a new set of springs from Antique
Electronic Supply.
Once I get them I'll re-do the whole thing carefully, and report back.

I have a followup question about the SX62 ... on the one I have the
black paint on
the dial glass is quite crackled, and lets a bit of light through where
it should be opaque.
It seems that the paint has just aged. I daren't touch it. I see that
RadioDaze have
a replacement glass for the SX62A ... my question is: what difference is
there between
the SX62 and SX62A dials, if any?

I'm not even sure I need to replace the glass, as the effect of the
crackling certainly
imparts a vintage, aged look :-)
