Personally, I really like the SX-42. The green dials look outstanding
in a dimly lit room. The audio is unsurpassed, with the Push Pull
finals. I feel the performance is at least equal to a properly restored
SX-28, both are very good band cruisers for casual shortwave enjoyment.
It's tough to restore properly (as is the SX-28), but the type of
challenge and commitment that is required is what makes it such a worth
while receiver.

No one know the future of vintage radios. Will the next generation have
any interest in classic radios. I know my kids have absolutely none.
Will shortwave AM still be broadcast in ten or twenty years, or will it
all be replaced by some form of digital? As far as the collect-ability
of radios, I feel that get and restore what you enjoy, rather than
looking for the future value of a radio.I think that this is a hobby to
enjoy for the pure "Cool" of old radios. I know that I will ever get the
money that I have invested, not to mention the time. But it is a hobby
and hobby's are to be enjoyed.

Just my $0.02 worth.
