If you guys have listened to 80 meter SSB this weekend there are DX stations
(wall to wall) from 3600 to 3750 all listening up as high as 3890. Louder
Dx stations are operating between 3750 and 3860 (a WP2). I heard about 35
different DXCC entities including some semi rare stuff. Above 3890 its
clear sailing. Three years ago I used the SR-2000 and HA-20 remote VFO I
had and worked over 100 Dx stations in about 1 and 1/2 hours on 80 SSB . I
do have good Dx type antennas and the 800 watts out from the SR-2000 helps.
John ON4UN said I was 20 Over. He was on 3735 last nite again! Listening
3832.
Now on 20 most of the Dx works simplex and unfortunately 14293 is in the
portion used by the contest as it is most contest weekends.
Hams like Sandy W5TVW use their old boatanchors on CW and Sandy has entered
the CQ 160 CW several years in a row. As John K5MO said "turn your old
boatanchor or vintage rig on and work a few" its fun and fills your log!
