Back in those days, it was not uncommon to pull the audio off before it got 
into the actual audio circuits if the receiver. It was also common to bring the 
audio out through a twist lock hubbel AC connector. Some audio ws allowed 
through the standard audio circuits for the engineers to fine tune the signal and 
the "hi-fi portion was routed directly to the console through program amps 
and patch panels.  I would be interested to see any pictures of the engraving on 
the receiver and any non standard connectors that may have been added. Also, 
tell us what you find when you trace out the audio circuits.
