I just saw another John Carradine movie yesterday titled "Bound for
Glory" and is the story of Woodie Guthrie. There were several scenes
of radio broadcast stations with various equipment on shelves, as well
as several of table model radios in offices, etc. I can't say if any
were Hallicrafters or not because the scenes moved pretty quickly.

Saw a John Carradine gem the other day, circa 1943, entitled "Revenge
of the
Zombies" One of the characters in the film discovers a hidden Halli
trans/rcvr which Carradine was using to talk to the Nazis. Couldn't
tell the model of
the rig but the big Halli speaker with the "h" through the grille was
very
visable.
When the Hollywood movie studios needed electronic gear, they would
simply
send someone over to buy a few pieces from the Henry Radio store in
West LA.
Henry had loads of Hallicrafters receivers back in the 40s & 50s and
it made it
simple and cheap for the prop man to simply drive a mile or two and
pickup
something looking professional rather than fabricate in the studio
workshop. I
would visit Henry Radio almost every Saturday with my dad throughout
the 50s &
60s and it was better than Toys R Us !! The inventory was constantly
changing
and you would never know what was coming in as a trade. Lotsa fun
indeed.
