Well, consider how much he pays eBay in listing fees. OF COURSE, they'll
side with him!

A couple of years ago I bought a Collins 32S-1 from a fellow in
California (not Martyn) who claimed the transmitter, while it had "a
little dust on the chassis" put out a "clean 100 watts plus on all
bands". (My suspicions should have been aroused right then, considering
the rig's normally diminished signal excretion on 10 meters, if nothing
else).

It, too, was DOA. The seller theorized that a tube must have been
knocked loose during transit. After fiddling with it for a week or so,
I sent it off to Bud Whitney who, with great regret, sent it back with
the explanation that the device's circuitry had been so scrambled by a
previous owner and his American Beauty 200 W soldering iron that, a) it
was impossible for it to operate at all, and, b) it was essentially
irrepairable. It ended up going to a friend who enjoys stripping a
chassis clean and doing a "ground up" restoration.

Not all members of our cheery little fraternity deserve to attend the
family reunion.
