Although this is a bit off topic, your comments on the paint remind me of
something long ago.
The company I used to work for was selling a particular product to another
company. Our company was in a continual process of improving purity of the
products and made some great strides on this particular product. The
impurities were in parts per million and for most cases could have been in
parts per thousand and the product would have still been considered good.
At any rate they shipped the first large batch to said customer expecting
great praise. Instead, the phones started ringing, all with the same
question: "What have you done? This last shipment is no good at all.". It
seems those trace impurities we worked to get rid of, played a major role in
what ever they were doing with the product.
Ah, the goold old days when you had to repaint a whole car so that new
fender would match, while your transmitter and receiver might even be
different shades of gray. Come to think of it, it was "grey" and not "gray"
back then.
