I have a SR2000 that has a problem with the S meter. I have checked
components and tubes and everything appears to be within tolerance. The maximum
deflection of the meter is 40db over S9. It takes about 150 microvolts to read S9
on the meter instead ofthe specified 50 microvolts. The AGC seems to be ok
and the sensitivity is less the .7 microvolt on 20 meters.
Has anyone had this problem and could offer suggestions before I modify the
circuit. The transmitter functions normally with full output and meter
indications are ok. Either I am not getting sufficient negative AGC voltage to cause
full scale deflection or I need to determine a way to calibrate the S meter
circuitry. This represents about an indicated 20 db loss in signal strength.
I would prefer the meter circuitry to indicate properly.
Sure hope someone can help.
