this thing is a wonder for designing it CHEAP but savvy. The front end 
does not offer variable inductances- heck the LO uses part of the upper 
band windings to help tune to the lower bands! The trimmers adjust the 
top of each band FINE, but there is no way to calibrate toe BOTTOM of 
the band, makijg dial preciwsion rather problematical. THANK THE GODS 
for wwv, it lets me do some useful work on it without signiricant 
instruments beyond an experienced ear.

But it's fun anyway. Wonder what uit could have been like with a few 
slightly better parts in it, like 4 slug tuned inductors for the LO?
