As I understand it, truly professional restorers of antique airplanes add a 
color paint dot to the UNDERside of a screw head if it is 
non-original.  That way only future restorers will see the marking.

I suggest a small bright yellow dot in a visible place, *and* a note on the 
chassis underside in plain site telling what they mean.
