Peter May once said: "Is anyone thinking of marking these caps in some
way so other techs would know they are restuffed? Maybe a brand or
something?"

Good idea. Gary Brown's doing the restuffing. Maybe he could press a
little "Genuine Gee Bee" brand into the wax -- then sell the condensors
for $14.95 each.

And speaking of Gee Bees, Roy's note about antique airplane restoration
practice is interesting. I've helped in the restoration of two (a P-51
Mustang and an F4U Corsair) but, since I was an apprentice restoration
worker, I was relegated to paint stripping, rough sanding and sweeping
up. I didn't notice any squinty-eyed artists meticulously painting the
undersides of screw heads, but it sounds like a task to which I might
have graduated -- eventually. There's an interesting presentation on
aircraft restoration philosphy as practiced by The Smithsonian at
http://crm.cr.nps.gov/archive/17-4/17-4-2.pdf . Some of these principles
might apply to radio restoration work, too. (Frown when you say that).
Although, I have a tough time believing that anyone will be doing second
generation restorations of radios in fifty years' time. Personally, I
think all these old sets will end up in the same landfill as us fairly
soon and analog broadcasting will be a quaint memory like landline
telegraphy and spark gap transmission.

Meanwhile, I'll spend evenings listening to the clamoring for hi-fi AM
"greatness" on 3885 KHz and the doomsday rants of Harold Camping "but
thank you for calling and sharing" on all other frequencies.
