Hi Steve,
While you have the sub-chassis out, may I suggest that you also check all the 
resistors in there. 
My SX101a suddenly went very deaf and I have found the 120K screen resistor 
to the 6AU6 was open circuit. This was suggested also by  both Don W4BWS and 
Doug KB9TMY, and was indeed the case.

This must be the most inaccessible component in the entire radio, so at the 
same time I'll replace all the caps as well, since as, you know, you have to 
pull the whole bloody thing apart. All for a 7 cent resistor.
