My 101A had the habit of going deaf on USB. Quickly switching the
mode switch between USB and LSB cured the problem for a while, then
didn't. DeOxit etc didn't help.
What worked was me switching the two crystals on the 101A for the ones
in my SX-111 Mk 1. Temporary fix.....
What I suspected was that one of the oscillators on the subchassis
wasn't working probably due to a slight component change in the
related circuit. Over the years I suspect I'd moved to the steep side
of the curve for the oscillator, and the quick starting/stopping via
the mode switch would get it going.
So yes, if you've gone through the trouble of removing the subchassis,
I'd check every resistor under the chassis, and perhaps the caps to.
