[Hallicrafters] Boy My SX-117 Sounds Wonderful!

Sandy,
The SX-115 and SX-117 are both terrific receivers in my book. However, the
115 is much more stable, has a much better dial readout, and its AGC is also
much better than the 117's. The dials are equally smooth, but the 115 feels
more precise. I feel that the 115's are a bit quieter and more sensitive;
you just hear more signals down low, near the noise.
All of that said, the 117s are a lot easier and less expensive to find and
are a lot of bang for the vintage buck.
I agree about the SR-400 CW filter - not the best, but a heck of a lot
better than the KWM-2 (which does not have one at all and is pretty lousy on
CW when the band is crowded.)
73,
Rocco N6KN
Owner of two of each.
