Thanks Sandy for the nice report on your SX-117 experience!  I've never used one before buying this one so I was hoping it would be just a good as the reports have been.  It is just as good and I can't wait to put them on the air. 

True, frequency 'resetability' may be low, but it doesn't matter to me since my normal use doesn't require precision (other than at the band edges :->>>)

If I needed resetability today in this same setup, then I'd consider adding one of the external digital display readouts that are offered. There is a vfo output for driving the transmitter with the receiver VFO.  A buddy of mine N9OO bought a DDS2 or 4 mfg by a group in Italy.  Beautiful display/vfo.  I teased him saying that he will annoy me when he lets me know that I've I've drifted off frequency by 0.000000005 hz :->>>>> 

On the SX-115, I think it is a gorgous receiver but I thought dial feel or performance was poor and not anywhere as smooth as the SX-117. My observation anyway.
