[Hallicrafters] Power plug for Hallicrafters

Question 1
    Does anyone know of a source or have an "extra" plug (female) for 
the end of an electrical power cord.  It is round, 2 terminal, and 
about 1 1/4 in. in diameter and plugs into the power input for a 
Hallicrafters DD-1.  The last fellow soldered the cord to the two male 
prongs (ugh).

Question 2
    A 70-volt line transformer has suggested several times (Glen?) for 
matching the 500 ohm output to an 8 ohm speaker.  Has anyone measured 
the input impedance for the 70-volt transformer?  And how good of a job 
does it do in interfacing between 500 and 8 ohms?
