[Hallicrafters] When do you replace tubes?

Bill --

When a tube is in the yellow,  that's the indicator for me to get another
one, which is typically at the next fester.   If and when the tube is
replaced, the "yellow" one goes in the bag of "marginal" tubes.
"Marginal" tubes may work very well in other applications, and are a VERY
handy when a tube goes and you don't have a "good" spare handy!

I have serveral "marginal" tubes in my HQ-129-X, and it plays fine.

Also, it depends upon the function of the tube.  If it's (for example), a
high voltage rectifier, that will get replaced pretty fast.

Tubes that are "bad" (in the red) get executed by the kids with the BB
gun....
