[Hallicrafters] S40 Advice please

1. No, I would leave the filter caps if they are OK. I would test them
for leakage, though.
2. What you see is the "gimmick". A very small coupling capacitor.
3. Having to turn the RF gain down to copy CW or SSB is normal.
