[Hallicrafters] SX-101A RF Calibration Question

I've been using my 101A as a daily driver for over 5 years now and it
works superbly except on the high end of 40 meters. 7.3 MHz appears
on the dial scale around 7.313 or so.

I don't do a lot of 40M AM and when I do, I just do a mental offset to
get the correct frequency. This is getting a bit annoying so I
thought I'd do a quick RF alignment on 40M only to bring the high end
back down.

Looking at the manual, it says the adjustment caps are soldered at the
factory and recalibration should be performed via the coil slugs only.
  For 7.3 Mhz, that's L8.

OK, that's what the manual says so that's what I'll do, but I'm
typically used to setting the lower frequency via a slug then setting
the bandwidth of the dial scale via a trimmer. I just want to make
sure I'm doing the correct procedure for what I want to accomplish; I
can't see any other in the manual.

I don't think the modulated output is working on my RF generator, so I
was just planning to use my SWR analyzer link coupled to the radio for
this adjustment. It doesn't have to be exact, but I want it better
than what it is now. I'll do the full (and correct) alignment (IF
and RF) next summer when I recap the radio.

Thanks
