Yes, use a small screwdriver. I use one of those small blade screw
drivers with the rotating knob on the handle end since the plastic
alignment tools distort. You can find them in Sears Hardware Stores.
I did not measure or observe any noticeable difference using a metal
blade vs a plastic in peak signal.

Just to be safe you should check your measurement with the metal screw
driver out of the slot as a final check. Any ferrous material can
affect the tuning.
