Yes, use a small screwdriver. I use one of those small blade screw drivers
with the rotating knob on the handle end since the plastic alignment tools
distort. You can find them in Sears Hardware Stores.
I did not measure or observe any noticeable difference using a metal blade
vs a plastic in peak signal.

Was trying to do an IF alignment on an S38D, came to the point to adjust the
trimmers in the metal cans, however the plastic Radio Shack alignment tools
were not up to the task. Any recommendations on what is an approriate device
to adjust the IF with.
