John,

Thanks for that info.  This is a new one for me.  My primary SX-15 is 
the second Hallicrafters receiver bought by my father, the first was a 
5-T which I also have.  I picked up the second '15 as a potential parts 
rig to keep Dad's running.  That one was indeed modified with a front 
panel speaker.  It was a good job - doesn't scream 'modification'.  I'll 
keep an eye out for tuning eye mods.
