I am generally on the don't part 'em unless you cannot
fix 'em (including those that are readily repaired by
someone else) side of the preference chart.

That said I have just disassembled an old 1001-A Signal
Generator someone gave me. They have almost zero market
value unless collector quality. Mine had suffered some
significant cosmetic harm and was not worth cosmetic
restoration on top of the typical alignment, re-cap, and
re-tube cost and hassle.

Amazing quality of construction and weighed a ton!

Anyone need anything from this beast?

My plan is to try to touch-up the faceplate and keep the
general appearance while stuffing the insides with six
250W, 284 Ohm resistors in parallel for a full-legal dummy
load.

I am also hoping to use the meter as a power meter or a
temperture meter and a switch for Load In/Load Out. Not
sure what other features may be added.

Didn't want the GenRad to be junked but was fresh out of
need for doorstops!
