After all the replies and opinions, it seems to comes down to this
simple fact.

Parting out of (1) radio may allow dozens of others to become whole and
get back on the air.  So, parting out of radio is probably a necessary
evil.

Philosophically I strongly agree that a good boat anchor shouldn't be 
parted out just for profit just as we shouldn't profit of the selling 
off of antiquities BUT in a capitalistic society people are pretty much 
free to do whatever they want with their property and we nash out teeth 
all we want about it but I suspect we aren't going to change very many 
minds. I also confess to being thankful for the ability to keep my 
collection of boat anchors alive and in working order. So does anybody 
have a meter for an SX-28 for sale (seriously).
