The amazing thing was that since the code takers were receiving "coded" 
messages perfect copy was required for the enigma machines. At the same time the 
Germans and Italians were directionally jamming the frequency and the code 
takers had to copy through the interference. They assigned more than one op to the 
frequency to ensure they could combine the received copies and have a better 
chance at perfect copy.
