I bought a SX-96 new when they first came out and bye the way still have it.
It had a microphonic right out of the box from the factory. I lived with it
for a long time. At some point I took it out of the case and discovered
there was a cylinder type ceramic capacitor near the underside of the tuning
capacitor that was VERY close to touching something. A small vibration of
my table was enough got the cap to vibrate and touch ground. All I did was
move the cap 1/16 th of an inch and the microphonic was gone.

Am starting restoration on a SX-100 Mark I. The set is very microphonic and
no "one" tube seems to be the culprit. Comments?

There are scratches around the top and sides of the front panel but the
panel itself is fine. Any suggestions, including paint brand/color, for
redoing the top and edges

I plan to replace all paper caps except those black beauties associated
with the Selectivity switching circuit

Thanks Joe k7mks
