[Hallicrafters] SX-100

Am starting restoration on a SX-100 Mark I.  The set is very microphonic and no "one" tube seems to be the culprit.   Comments?

 There are scratches around the top and sides of the front panel but the panel itself is fine.  Any suggestions, including paint brand/color, for redoing the top and edges 

 I plan to replace all paper caps except those black beauties associated with the Selectivity switching circuit
