[Hallicrafters] RE: SX-71 "h" meter plate

I have a great looking/working SX-71 that is missing the "h" disc that
covers the meter adjustment hole. By chance does anyone have a really beat
up SX-71 front panel I could buy to reclaim the disc for my radio, or just
the disc itself? I'd even be willing to buy a complete junker radio for the
disc as I have another SX-71 partially restored that needs a front dial
glass. (But here I think I can replace the glass with a piece of picture
frame glass). If anyone has one of these items, I'd sure like to hear from
you.
I have replaced missing discs on radios like a S-38B or a C model but they
are fixed in place. I got the "h" discs off of junker radios. On the SX-71
it swings away to expose the meter screw. So, I don't think I can use a 'h"
disc from a simple radio like a S-38 as they are built different on the rear
side unless I modify it. (Haven't figured out how to do this to date).
Does anyone sell replica "h" discs? It seems like there is a demand out
there for this disc as well as for main tuning knobs.
What bugs me about my radio is, it is in great shape and works well except
for the missing "h" disc. Worse case, maybe I could locate a "h" disc from
a S-38 type radio and just glue the disc to the front of my radio and cover
up the meter adjustment hole. Of course, it would not swing away, but how
many times do you adjust the meter anyway? Any disc would be better then
none there at all.
If anyone has any ideas I have not covered, please get in touch with me.
Hopefully, someone on this list can help or bail me out it some way. It
just bugs me to have a nice restored radio like this (few scratches, great
knobs, recapped, and aligned) and every time I look at it my heart sinks
looking at the missing "h" blemish.
Is there life for me after all this? I'm on my knees for help. If it
matters, I am not a dealer and the radio is part of my collection.
Thanks for taking the time reading about my plight!
