One thing that supposedly helps is to remove the tube
type rectifiers and replace them with solid-state.
The easiest thing to do is to make a replacement using
old tube bases.
This removes the rectifier filament load from the
transformer which reduces the heat factor. If you
take the filament leads loose from the tube sockets,
you also remove the high voltage from the filament
leads which also helps.
