[Hallicrafters] Paint for SX-42 restoration

Since Total Electronics is shut down for a while, I
have been having paint "computer" matched at my local
Sherwin-Williams store. What I have been buying is
satin finish latex enamel (latex enamel is what Mike
Shelton was using in the paint sold by Total
Electronics). That runs right at $10 for a quart and
just under $30 for a gallon. I have been buying
quarts just to make sure that the color is "right on"
before getting the larger quantity.

Since I do paint cabinets for customers, I bought a
reconditioned "airless" paint gun made by Wagner at
Northern Supply Company for $39.95 on sale from the
regular price of $79.95 (they sell brand new for about
$160). Frankly, I am very pleased with the results,
both the color matching by Sherwin-Williams and the
quality of the paint job from the paint gun.

As for panels, I don't do anything that requires
silk-screening right now. There is "one heck of a lot
of work" in making the silk-screen as well as the care
and cleaning of it so that you can use the silk-screen
over and over for additional panels.
