I can see no reason not to go with the dual primary. Even if you have to use
the 120VAC winding, at least you will have the flexibility to change if you
need to (or if you were to sell the amp).

I had the older "plain old" HT33 in the early 80's which I ran on a 120VAC
line. Never had a problem, altho now that I have learned a little more, I
was probably pushing higher voltage into it than it was designed for. Never
had a problem, thankfully, and it was a great amp. I had three PL172's which
I carefully rotated, and while they had varying output, they all worked
pretty well.

My abdominal muscles still bear the stretch marks from carrying that sucker
up and down the stairs. Went to an Alpha 78 afterwards, and now have an
ACOM, and while I love the old stuff, I am a worshipper of lighter amps!
