Replacing capacitors is usually only part of the problem! In my
estimation, what is needed is a modern equivalent of an old time radio
repair shop!
IF you do the job RIGHT there really isn't any money to be made at it
simply because it is so labor intensive that you almost need to charge
"collector prices". That is why so many of do it as a hobby, but
refrain from going into "business". (There are a couple people who do
make a good living restoring R-390A's etc, BUT they do get paid the big
bux for it)
Speaking as a collector of WW II vintage foreign radios and more modern
military gear, there are many collectors who are willing to pay big
bucks to get a Japanese or German radio and are willing to pay big bucks
to get it restored to working condition. There is a market for such a
service but there are very few suppliers.
