Hope this gets through...I've had lots of delays going through my ISP and
some posts seem to get lost.

That's the way I pack.
For the bottom I make cutouts for the feet and for the front panel I make
cutouts for the knobs with another foam board over that. So, I end up using
two layers of Styrofoam (TM) (the blue stuff) in the inside box and two more
layers in the outside box.

I prefer to use bubble wrap and fill the inside with it so nothing (like
tubes) can move. However some items, no matter how well packed are
vulnerable. The only safe way to ship an HT-33 series amp is to remove the
power supply chassis, which is no easy task and is not easy for whoever has
to put the thing back together.

Even when well boxed, the transformer and two chokes are heavy enough to
bend that subchassis substantially. They are heavy enough to even bend the
cage that goes around the amplifier inside the cabinet.

It was not a piece of equipment that was intended to be shipped by normal
methods. It really needs to be in a wooden crate and have "this side up"
strictly enforced.

I haven't had any problems yet.
