What is the difference between max and min range on the two machines? The
range finder adjusts the sample time that is ideally centered in the bit
time for each bit. Ideally the difference between max and min is high. On
the model 15, I think the center of the range should ideally be around 60.
With optimum adjustment, the range span should be 80 "points." (see
https://www.navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/jh/ttyman1/ttd.pdf#page=12 ). On
your machine, the range span appears to be about 60 points and the center
is 80. There are a lot of things that can affect the range, one being
speed. Does this have a synchronous or governed motor? Is the speed
correct? Are the gears correct? One way to tell would be to hit a key
(such as R or Y with alternating bits) and capture it on a single sweep
scope. Each bit should be 22 ms for 60 wpm.

Good luck!

Harold
