Thanks for the pictures. I'm sure I can make something that will fit and
maybe I can print off TELETYPE like the original and glue it on for the time
being.

 

Sure I can help with connecting the 33 to the PDP8E. I'll have to look at
the drawings I made a few years ago and let you know. But 1st, do you have
the UART M8650 in your PDP8? There are two different kinds. One will do 110
baud and the other will not. Don't remember exactly right now, but I'll look
and get back. Thanks again for the pictures.

Hi Mike,

 

I don't have the ability to measure the thickness at the moment, but here
are a couple of photos.  There is not much to it. There is a lip on the
bottom that fits over the two protrusions on the machine (see photo), and
there is a tab bent up in the middle. That's what holds it. 

 

Question on how you hook it to the PDP-8E. My PDP-8E has the right card in
it with a flat molex connector with 8 or so connectors.  But he wiring and
colors have me stumped. Could you share some info on how to wire things up?
I assume four wires, TX and RX. But which is which? Not sure about the punch
control.

I have a 33ASR that I use with my DEC PDP8E computer. It is a rescue from
the dumpster. It toke me a year or so to get it to work and have been using
it for a few years. I do not have the front nameplate and thought that I'd
like to add one to make it look a little better, but have not been able to
find one. I thought of making my own from some sheet aluminum. I'm not sure
of how it mounts. There doesn't seem to be any mounting screws. Could it fit
in the slots at the bottom and get pinched in somehow? How thick is the
original nameplate? Thanks
