The electrolytic in the supply is 70+ years old.... might be an idea to
change it out for something that was made in this decade... ;}
I'm interested to hear from the rest of the Group, but I don't think 17
volts is going to hurt. And certainly it will 'droop' a bit under load
- it's a "brute force" supply with no regulation. When it was designed,
mains distribution voltage as in fact 110VAC. Nowadays its closer to
120V, so the output will be higher.
Be careful of the existing capacitor - if it fails and shorts, and the
vent plugs up, it will almost certainly go 'bang' make a giant mess....
