[GreenKeys] Model 42 ASR paper tape unit questions

I have the tape reader only  (110V)  here in the UK, I can dig it out an 
have a look tonight, but from memory I believe the 'compartment' is just 
missing its cover, no actual function, photo attached.

I also have a circuit  for the reader reversed out of my unit, again 
attached.  Let me know if the attachments are stripped , I'll host them 
for download.

I'm willing to let it go, but I have no idea if it works, a couple of 
large PSU caps were leaky so I replaced them like for like.
