Thanks, Duncan.  I just got this machine yesterday and haven't had time
to check it out.  It looks pretty good; just a little dusty.  I'm
guessing it might only need a little cleaning and lubing to work.  I got
it off eBay.  The Seller lived about a hundred miles from me.  He'd had
it listed for $350/OBO for a long time.  I finally offered him $100.  He
countered with $150 because it was a very "rare" military machine.  I
told him it wasn't *that* rare and since he hadn't tested it I didn't
want to pay that much for a possible rust bucket or rat motel.  He came
back and said he'd deliver it *personally* to me if I'd pay $150 . . .
so I did.  Yeah, I know:  still too high.  But, they don't come up
around here very often.  He was a nice guy.  He said his wife picked it
up at an estate sale because it was "neat".  It made me wonder if it had
belonged to a ham.  He didn't have a clue what it was or how it worked.
I explained it would need at least a current loop (not that he knew what
that was) in order to work at all and a modem or converter to do
anything else.  He mainly seemed to be happy to have an excuse to get
away from the house to deliver the machine.   Tomorrow I'll try to pop
the top, take a few pictures, and maybe post them here.
