Pretty much all single phase today.
There were trials done in a few locations where residential electrical
demand was high Phoenix AZ in the summer,
There are still a few 'burbs where the houses have 3 phase. This was when
electricity in many parts of the USA
was 'free' and you A/C'ed your house in the desert, watered the lawn
365/year, etc.
Back closer to home, Portland Oregon I have friend who has next to his
house a no longer used cannery. His
house is fed from one of the three pole transformers. When He built his
shop he asked how much to feed his
shop with 3PH, all three transformers where there. Was something like USD
5,000.
I remember joking with him. your house is on Phase A, get the shop on Phase
B and build a shed and have
it put on Phase C, .. can't say what my next suggestion was :-)
Residential here is around $15/month not including the KWH's
