You don't need the third service IF the second service uses one of the
"hots" the first one does not. I have done it- it works fine. In my dorm
room at Griffiss AFB in 1972, I found that three of the outlets in my
room were on different circuits. By unbelivable fortune, the hots were
all different phases. I also found a similar setup between two geeky
neighbors in central New York. The street was wired with 4 wire 120/208.
They discovered they had all three hots between them. Two wires were
buried between their houses, now one person could power his pipe organ
blower and the other his lathe and milling machine, not to mention their
very inexpensive air conditoners from the junk store. They agreed that
the added bill from one equalled the added bill from the other, so they
paid their bills quitely and no one was the wiser.
