[GreenKeys] What is the RTTY standard for CR LF for transmission?

As I recall, the standard on Telex and TWX machines was CR, LF and an optional LTRS, Delete or Rubout. 

I have been on a few trouble calls where the operator used LF first and then CR and no LTRS or Delete. 

Its always good to include the LTRS or Delete in case of a slow carriage return time or dashpot bounce etc. 

No line should be so long that the Auto CR and LF is needed. That function should only be needed with a failure of the CR and LF character or an extra long line. 

While we are on the Standard subject, I have watched a few YouTube videos lately with the paper and tape incorrectly loaded. 

On 32 and 33's paper always feeds from the bottom of the roll. Tape from the top of the roll. When placing a punched tape into the tape reader, the TR should be in FREE position. It will install much easier that way. 

Thats my 2 cents worth today.

I think there should be an option in the program to select the end-of-line characters combo. I recall reading a LONG discussion of this some years ago and it concluded there was no one perfect answer. Some of the factors were that not all machines are the same & even when machines are the same they aren't all set up alike. Glass TTYers didn't care what was at the EOL, they generally automatically wrapped lines on the screen. Mechanical TTYers with auto-LF on CR set up didn't appreciate the wasted paper with a LF inserted at the EOL. Mechanical TTYers without auto-LF liked the LF in the EOL, of course.

The two CRs are for radio circuits incase on is missed, then the LF comes and a LTRS or if the first character is a FIGS then that could be sent. The reason is that the mechanical machines need about 2 non printing characters so the carriage can get back to the left.
