Ralph,

Thanks for that. And yes, I recognize the part with the red tape - that's
the one I'm manipulating.

So now I really do have a bit of a mystery on my hands.. why doesn't it
disable the USOS when moved? For one thing - though I'll have to take
another look - I think there are some differences between our machines. The
parts proximate to the USOS lever on your machine don't look like what I
recall.
