This is pretty exciting, Teletypes being used for something more than a
collection or hobby.  Please tell us more about it.

I hope there's someone who can help you with the maintenance - perhaps
a ham or hobbyist there who has some knowledge and some time.

I guess you could have your students learn Teletype maintenance, but
they might see that as a dead-end job.

In my amateurish state of knowledge, I never considered it so important
as to go through the manual oiling and greasing every place they tell you
too.  I tend to just saturate all the felts, squirt oil at every place 
where visibly parts move against others, put oil into reservoirs like
the one next to the selector.  Teletype machines like to run practically
dripping with oil, which is one reason for the pad under the machine to
soak it up.  So long as you keep the selector magnet and armature dry
it's practically impossible to over-oil the machine.
