And I found the hard way that after masking off those tags to repaint
the cabinet, most of the Western Union label came off with the masking
tape.

The slot on the left is for a hand wheel that replaces the usual paper
crank on the M15.  So that no clearance is needed to the left of the
cabinet for the paper crank.
