Thanks all for the advice. I made the adjustments to the springs per Steve
and re-installed the unit now with all the screws tightened down. It is now
typing every time I push a key and most keys seem to work and print
correctly. Will have to look closely why the letter j types but paten does
not move over a space for the next character. Figs works but not ltrs key
and I am thinking that might be something to do with the functions selector.
Anyway thanks for all the good advice and it is at least printing each time
which it was not doing before.

Thinking back 40 some odd years I don't think I ever used a gauge to set
those screws. Just set them so that it takes a small amount of force to
move from one side to the other with the "same" amount of force on both
sides and the armature staying the way you moved it while power is off.
Doing lots and lots of machines it was a "feel" that was acquired!
