to heck with a mod print and polish one made form clear material and
Bob's your Uncle! I had a friend bragging about a 3d printer he is
getting and he made hand motions that seemed like a larger sine than a
35 bubble lid..... he is a friend to the museum project so if I can
bag a real one we can print on demand,

Could you make a mold/model on a 3D printer any cheaper? Assuming access,
you could design any changes you want.

I looked into making them, I made one for myself out of quite a few
pieces, gluing bits of bar stock where the stresses were but It looked home made,
very home made :)

A friend who is a retired mold makers response was 'expensive' even today
CNC now being able to do the rough in of the complex curves.

One might be able to vacuform the 'bubble' then attach the finger nubs,
add a stiffener to the back, etc

yes we need to find a source for the plastic domes....
email me at _couryhouse at aol.com_ (mailto:couryhouse at aol.com) if any
turn up.
I need one here too for an ASR that is coming into the fold...
hate to say it but back when we have the computer business
we had a stack on these still new and wrapped we got from Honeywell
process control
they used 35s as consoles early one

Thanks for the background, guys. We'll see how it pans out. I did nab a
tabletop 35 which will keep me busy. Case is pretty beat up (missing the
plastic dome) but otherwise complete. It'll need a degrease and lube but looks
all there. -Cory

Hi guys,

I recently had a look at a Model 38 ASR with its matching desk. A beast,
to be sure. Now, the truck was already full so it didn't come home with me
(at least right now), but I'm curious what the background is on this model.
Google isn't much of a help. It appears to have a type cylinder like the
32/33 series. Did it operate at higher speeds? What was the target market?
Anything unique about this model?

Thanks,
Cory
