Ok, yes I knew of the 5 and 10 bells, didn't know the 4 ones.

Now, normally, where would these be placed? The fact that I only have 
Siemens TTYs which show a readable bell character, also means I don't 
know how the Teletype ones dealt with it.
Did they go before the tag? after the tag?
Take this example:

      U R G E N T

The oeprator added spaces between the letters to make it stand out. Also 
there are a number of "spaces" before the tag.
The question would then be...
Should it be

"     U R G E N T\b\b\b\b\b"
or
"\b\b\b\b\bU R G E N T"
